Diane Polangin,

Former Councilmember

Why

Bowie Citizens for Accountable Government believe that our elected representatives should respect the wishes of the Bowie Community and represent our diverse wants and needs at the city, county and state levels. We advocate for maintaining the suburban character of Bowie, the addition of a second high school, maintaining green spaces, and limiting development in the City to an appropriate needs-based level.

Many members of the Bowie City Council have been more interested in growth and tax revenue than maintaining and improving the quality of life in our unique Bowie communities. Additionally, they have voted in favor of projects that are contradictory to the wishes of their constituents, as well as the best interests of Bowie.

The council members serve for 4-years instead of 2-years and are operating in a way to support growth at any cost, putting local businesses and developer ambitions before resident’s needs.

The Bowie community has mobilized in response: we want elected officials who will listen to residents - not developers.
