The Gazette Shooting

In loving memory of our friends…

We are shocked and saddened by the news of John McNamara’s passing.

It is hard to believe that we lost a first-class reporter and friend yesterday in the shooting at the newsroom of the Capital Gazette newspaper in Annapolis. We spent many hours over the last two years with John McNamara as he worked to cover our efforts to gain a bare minimum level of constituent services from local elected officials. Bowie Citizens for Accountable Government always respected John’s dogged efforts to develop balanced and factual news. He took the time to make sure his reporting was thoughtful and accurate. We will miss this smart, easy going and warm soul.

Our hearts also go out to the families and friends of Robert Hiaasen, Wendi Winters, Rebecca Smith, and Gerald Fischman killed in the Capital Gazette newsroom shooting yesterday.

They will be missed by our community.
